When artists strike a universal chord, their popularity, influence and significance usually increase exponentially. Therefore, it makes sense that a hip-hop band who spreads a message of upliftment would be destined to rule the pop music charts and enjoy the respect of millions of fans.

4th Avenue Jones’ is a seven-person hip-hop outfit who avoid trite commentary on violence and drugs. Instead, the group uses its music to spread a message of empowerment, as vocalists Ahmad, Tena Jones and Jabu flow flawlessly over the always-strong instrumentation supplied by Greg B (bass), Drummy Dave (drums), and Gaily (violin).

"We’re on a mission to change the world one listener at a time," Ahmad says. "This is not music without a purpose. It’s definitely good music that you can groove to and bob your head to. But, at the same time, we’re trying to show the world our heart by what we say, and what we don’t say. Both of those are just as important."
